UNSOLICITED VISITOR

I was sitting around last Tuesday reading "The Goal" when my phone rang. I don't get many phone calls these days so I leapt up and looked at the call display. It was my good friend Dan from whom calls are rare indeed.

After saying hello Dan asked me to guess where he was between fits of laughter. I guessed Toronto as I knew he was scheduled to be on vacation soon. He replied that no he was at a mall in Kingston ONTARIO.

Deac: Why?

… Dan had some problems in Europe and decided to come back to Canada early. Upon arriving in Toronto he decided not to go back to Calgary but to rent a car and drive to Kingston instead. He left no warning. Had it been the week before I would have been in cottage country with my dead cell phone and he would have driven to Kingston for not.

He arrived to some deadly heat. Ontario was not a great place to be last week as the temperatures were regularly topping 30. Dan timing was great except that I was in the middle of the school week and the first week usually includes classes past dinner.

So for the most part Rachel took Dan around and they conspired together behind my back. “Don’t you hate how Deac does …”.

Two days later Dan was leaving at 5am to get on a flight to visit another friend in Halifax. Thanks for stopping by!
